Dual Zalman CNPS11X Extremes

Are two of these Zalman CNPS11X Extremes going to be too much weight on a motherboard over time? They each weigh 600grams. (1.2lbs). Thoughts?

There are monolithic heatsinks that weigh more than a kilogram, and they're still considered safe. It all comes down to how good the backplate is, because that's what spreads the strain out to as large a surface area as possible. I think you should be fine using 2x CNPS11X.

Backing up McSteel here, with a proper backplate and retention mechanism you shouldn't have any issues whatsoever.

That's what I figured. These guys are nowhere near as heavy as the Nocuta monoliths. No backplate sadly, other than the built in ones with LGA 2011 sockets. Should be fine. Now I'm just worried the second processors heatsink may block my first PCIe 3.0 16x slot.

If you're worried about their weight, why not make some brackets to support them a bit? Shouldn't take more than a few bucks worth of any decent metal construction kit to do it.
