Default Tom's just gets worse and worse

I've noticed that the average user IQ at Tom's seems to be getting lower and lower.

Take this for example: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/...psu-slots.html

Now... originally, there was a complaint about the on board sound stopped working, but that's gone now. The thread has been edited a number of times. But that's neither here nor there. Check out the responses from Bo Lee.

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/...psu-slots.html

He suggests an Apevia PSU as a replacement.

He suggests reversing the polarity of one of the +5V leads in order to obtain -5V so the onboard sound would work.

Then he tries to school me on how electricity works.

Wow... Just wow....

Then there's this guy that doesn't know the difference between two different Seasonic power supplies, but suggests the cheaper one because "it's Seasonic". Then tries to tell me that his Seasonic is using more power than its label is rated at because his Kill-A-Watt tells him so:

If you think that's bad, you should read the rest of Tomshardware forum.

I try not to. My head would hurt too much.

And to think... Reddit is worse.

It's a shame that these comments aren't set to the same music as that one (similarly bad) video they made in 2001.

That video makes a nice demonstration of why you need to worry about emissivity on those IR thermometers, if you look at their P4/P3 temperatures. That said, since the entire point of the video appears to have been to make AMD look bad, I suppose it worked in their (Tom's) favor.

By the way, the music is from Project-X on the Amiga.

In all actuality, most of the time when someone is incorrect someone's there to correct them at least. On Tomshardware and LTT (and obviously here), TPU, etc. Reddit, though, is quite troublesome with PSUs, and their downvote system along with the group pitchfork behavior doesn't help with misinformation.

Toms has been....well....

I've stopped going there unless someone somewhere else links a URL and I don't realize that it goes to Toms.

I've stopped taking THG seriously after I've read their review of the ASUS A7V, wich I bought myself and was pretty annoyed by the promise chip.

And also later when they were trying to do the 'live Intel vs. AMD stability' thing back in 2003 or so.
But luckily it was a shot in the foot for them because the Intel Board died, the AMD did run fine.

Don't know if it was a German thing or international.

Interesting detail:
THG Germany Office was, if I remember correctly, in the same building as Intel was at the time...
