What does "Thinkpad" even mean? It's just a brand. We don't say "buy a Corsair PSU" or "buy an MSI graphics card" because it makes no sense, so why do I see people recommending just "a thinkpad" instead of specific laptops?

The Lenovo ThinkPad P71 is a great laptop right now (December, 2017). The Lenovo ThinkPad W530 was a great laptop in 2012. The Lenovo ThinkPad W510 was a great laptop in about 2010 (if I remember correctly). There are other models of Lenovo laptops with which I am unfamiliar. But I've been using ThinkPads for a long time, and they are consistently great.

Another year.... another assortment of gaming laptops!

There's a better one coming out every year.

Thing is, there can truly not be one "best". It's like saying "what's the best car?" Well... do you want a sports car? Fuel economy? Hauling ability?

Been working and playing now 2 years on my AW 17 R4 and it is still performing almost on par with the titles I enjoy.
The only one that really can tax it is TW: Warhammer 2 when I Have 3 armies vs 3 armies. Oi...but otherwise its been the best purchase I made in terms of gaming portability.

The advent of almost fully enabled GPU's in Laptops (10XX series) really brought these into a life of their own. Before playing on a Cut down CPU and GPU really hurt their functionality. But now, they perform exceptionally well. And if 2 years of heavy use hasn't hurt this, then I can speak to its quality.

I use Asus ROG Strix GL502. Might be an underdog but I would recommend it, really great gaming experience as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah would have to say Asus as well in the Laptop market, They did do some cool stuff. I don't know the Laptop market exploded since some better stuff since years back....Mostly was like maybe a shitty Toshiba or something etc.
