i feel your pain, economy is killing EVERYONE. My mom works at a cleaning company and they have people with bachelors degrees coming in to take cleaning jobs for 7.50 an hour.

from the technical pdf for the 550w Ice Cube:

Quote:
Hold the control component of brightness be patent protect, according as
practicality of operation condition, optimize “condenser power” output, ensure
power the best cooling effective, also reach intention of quiet and economize.

“Cooling power” is a idiographic design, which dispel heat out of system, make cool
atmosphere and inject it into computer system. Such double temperature cooling
effect, can validly avoid CPU turning to over hot protect conduction.
I don't doubt that these are good units, but has anybody reviewed one?

The verbiage is Engrish at it's best. I couldn't actually tell what the thing was supposed to do until I had one in my hand and was running it.

The Peltier has absolutely NOTHING to do with the PSU. It's a standard PSH unit, but with a Peltier mounted to the housing, powered internally by the PSU and turned on and off by the extra switch on the back. The hot side of the Peltier is cooled by the PSU housing, which is why they use the pair of 80's to move air through the unit. The cold side is attached to the heatpipes which carry cold air to the radiator which is supposed to radiate cold air onto your CPU (or blown onto your CPU when a fan is mounted to the unit.)

If you don't turn the Peltier switch on, don't mount the heatpipes, etc. you essentially have a standard PSH750 with a pair of 80MM fans.

BTW: I sold the 750W, but I still have a 550W for sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=290281822750

yeah, I'm very close to buying the 550.

edit:

just bought it. I don't think I could have found a better PSU for the price anywhere.
