HI,
My wife box and she use it mainly for web browsing, Skype etc. Athlon II X2 240 Nvidia GT240 Gigabyte MA-770T-UD3 with F9g bios 2X4G DDR2 Ram 1 HDD and 1 DVD ROM 1 Wireless NIC PSU is a 585W Max power that come with the case. Lately she complaints that Skype is slowing down and not so responsive, so today I dropped in an Athlon II X4 620 (which I have as a spare but should have replace the X2 months ago) After about 15 minutes, bsod and when I reboot, one long beep and nothing happens. I turned off the PC and wait for about 30 minutes before turning it on again. No more long beep and I went into the bios to check settings (which I did not do after the cpu switch) and everything seems fine. It is working now but I am wondering if that long beep is PSU related? Tia Btw, if it is PSU related, the CX430 no longer on sale but I can get this Tt which is on sale during this weekend. http://www.canadacomputers.com/produ...item_id=040841 |

Bios Will cycle through failures and reset to default settings if there are errors.
This will cause loud beep and long boot, but eventual working system. did you download most recent bios? Sometimes, voltage settings are wrong, or off enough from one CPU to another (even though supported by the MB) Edit: F10 listed for most Versions of the MB I would investigate here first before looking at PSU. ![]() PS, if it only happened the one time, it is most likely just the BIOS resetting for the new CPU. |

If this is the HEC 585 it is entirely possible.
Thermaltake can be confusing (naming conventions) some are good some are not. This one I do not know. |

TR2 non-bronze are all terrible as far as I've seen.
I'd stay away. |

Thanks, it looks like it was the bios resetting for the new cpu. The PSU that comes with the case is a Orion 585W. I hope this is not made by the same manufacter of the 500W that was $30 at ebay. (the one that this site reviewed)
BTW, I was going to spend $55 at tigerdirect.ca for an Ultra 750W it is ULT-LSP750, heard the LSP series is no good but at least it should be 450W instead of 750W, anyway my wife spent all my money and I have to wait till next week before I could buy anything :-) |

Just checked $50-100 units on tigerdirect.ca.
I would say, unfortunately, CX430 is still the best one to power up the rig in the post even without big discount. |

Tomahawk II is made by the same factory (CWT) as Corsair CX with a lower graded platform. It is worth 5-10 more dollars to go for the CX, IMO.
If you don't like the rebate from tigerdirect, I understand. But good ones under $50 at canadacomputers.com are all sold out. |

Going to get an Antec VP-450 tomorrow for $29.99, should be ok since the review at hardwaresecrets is not that bad. Thanks everyone.
