In OP it is stated that the unit DID shut down , so I suppose it's a faulty sample in DE review.

BTW that EGN has but one problem - no PCI-E connectors or sleeving. I'd call it a wash.

Cables are also short on those OEM FSP units.

Yeah, this device should have a pci-e connector. But I think for a small economical system it isn't really nessecary. In addition, you can use an adapter (many graphic cards have one included) - just like I did:

I call it "Silencio Edition"

By the way, I updated my LC7300 review (see section "Testsystem II"). This guy is very efficent at little loads - I love it.

Custom sleeving + fan connector? Interesting. Thought about modding one of my PSUs to have a fan control too, but maybe another time.

Depends. From a PSU this size you could run a system like i3-21xx + HD6850 or even i5-2400 + HD7850.

Varying number of connectors is another issue with OEM units - and I'm not picking on FSP here in particular - in PL Seasonic SS400-ET is particularily (in)famous for having either 1x6-pin + 4xMolex or 0x6-pin + 2xMolex. Night and day difference. So maybe there would exist revision of EGN with 1x6-pin, but given how often shops make errors in descriptions, I'd stick with worst case scenario.

Slightly lower power than EGN surely helps with that. Double edged sword, essentially.

Yeah, made by myself (I had an extra cable set from one of my old PSUs). This fan connector is only for reading out the speeds.

Undoubtedly. In both cases, only one 6-pin pci-e connector is required (molex-to-pcie adapter included in delivery).

Possibly. But I like both of them.

Yeah, most of the F1 just uses a standard sleeve bearing fan...
