Default PSU reccomendation?

Heya,

I'm looking for a PSU for custom server that will host some custom hardware. My needs are a bit specific and I have been searching all over the web for a good solution. I need to power a mATX motherboard (~20w), for the rest I need 800-900w continuous power on 12 volts to power custom hw.

I checked the server power supplies but they are mostly too long. I have only 190x240mm of space to play with left. I found this PSU that would sort of fit as its short enough HP PROLIANT DL580/ML570G3 RPSA simple high quality 12Volt 100Amp Power Supply and its dirt cheap, but I also need ATX power for motherboard, so thats a turn-off.

Later I also found Delta DPS-1200QB (review) that was also discussed here and it looks perfect for my needs only I can't find any sellers anywhere on the net

So, now I'm am back at regular ATX PC psus. So whats the recommended PSU that is able to run ~1kw on 12V for years to come?

Thanks!

As Sin said, the Antec HCP-1200 would be the logical (and obvious) second choice unless its missing something that you specifically need?

I am unsure, if HP uses standard ATX or EPS PG timings for their units. If not, that might prevent a normal PSU from running.

Hm yes Antec, looks like a proper candidate.

What do you think about be quiet! Dark Power Pro 1200W

Just found out I might be able to get those significantly cheaper. Are those on pair with Antec?

This isn't even close to a proper review, but given that those are quite old (see date), answer is "definitely not".

If it's the Dark Power Pro P8, then definitely not comparable.

Voltage regulation is just average, response times as well, and the ripple goes out of spec on the 12v & 3.3v rails. Definitely not even worth a consideration.

Very few units can compete with the HCP 1200, and that's not one of them.
