I've never had a real stutter problem. My paired GTX460s are fine for me, and give me no trouble at all.

I've found stutter very noticeable with asymmetric Crossfire; a Radeon 4870 and 4850 produced terrible microstutter that made games less playable than on the 4870 alone.
