Corsair AX850 Review

Thanks for the review!

I'm still very curious about the low end efficiency and wish there were a few more samples. I just want to know exactly where that drops off. Would it be drastic or more of a gradual curve between test 2 and test 3?

And has anyone seen numbers for the 120-140W DC area?

Well.. Review's done. I didn't record it. It's essentially a flat line and so within spec it's ridiculous, I'm not going to go into how the ripple is only 1.x mv when it's so low it's barely worth mentioning.

Efficiency wasn't great for an LLC. Since 80Plus hadn't announced their Bronze to Gold certification at the time, it wasn't included in the design goal, I think. Also Andyson seemed to have troubles with ripples on VRM modules. Problems were related to layout probably.

Yup.... I simply wanted to see actual numbers so I had something concrete to compare to other PSUs, and to other other reviews of the AX850. Since individual units of the same make/model can have occasional variances (sometimes substantial variances), it would have been nice to see some actual numbers, but as the quote below so succinctly surmises:

Well the AX850 is hardly an upgrade from the Corsair HX850 and XFX Black Edition 850W, and those two sell for much less. Not necessarily better. This site reviewed both of them so you can read those reviews if you want.

Seems like it. Scroll down to the bottom of page 3. I would assume "hot load tests" uses a hot box.
