What is the cpu specification of the average internet user? I'm making an internet game, and I'm wondering what the average cpu specification of the average internet user/flash gamer is.

+1. By the way, there are several people I know at work who still run Pentium II and Pentium III computers. Their PC's haven't failed yet so they have no reason to replace it. For them, even a single-core Atom at 1.6GHz is an upgrade.

I agree rui-no-onna, but the people with p3's don't usually play flash type games, they are websurfers and email readers
with $300 netbooks the norm, most flash type gamers will have something with about that amount of computing power

The VIA Nano already likes to take Atom's lunch money and even that CPU is anemic in many respects. Making Atom an in-order CPU really reduced its possible performance. |

Think Slow and Cheap.
For Desktops, a Pentium 4 with integrated graphics and no more than 512mb memory is pretty standard. Running Windows XP and a big huge pile of Bloatware and Malware. A common arrangement around here is: P4 1.8 through maybe a 520 with Intel integrated graphics. Common chipsets: i865, i915, i945. Most of these little volcanos are clogged with dust and running even hotter than normal. For Laptops, think Mobile P4 (eww), Core Solo, Core Pentium and Athlon with 1 - 2 gb memory and Vista Home Premium. Probably less than 3 years old because most of the cheap ones break pretty quickly.Just find some super, super cheap sales ads from a year or two ago and work from there. A low-end Atom seems about right for an average. Have Fun, Keri, using the delightfully zippy Macs with adequate memory, fast processors and sensible UNIX- Based Operating Systems

Pentium 4's are still a prevalent CPU.
