it can but I haven't messed with them so far. It has 1/8 and 3/8 octave plugins installed. The above screenshot is from the plain SBL plugin.

Measuring in sone got some advantages, because sone results are closer to what people feel. 2 sone are experience twice as loud as one sone. Even the frequency of the noise is considered. If you've got the expensive equipment anyway...

By the way: that's the one used for PC Games Hardware reviews:
http://www.testandmeasurement.com/do...-analyzer-0001

The results are way more reliable than with my cheap toys (Voltcraft SL100, +-2 dBA, costs around 60 Euros). Most PCGH articles are Print only, so I'm not sure if and when I can show you examples.

it looks good but I can't find any real technical specs (e.g. the microphones it takes, how low it can go, the range etc.)

Also this brand is unknown to me at least.

There was a management buyout of the measurement division in 2000. Company changed it's name: http://www.nti-audio.com/en/home.aspx
The NC-10 is EOL for a long time. PCGH/Computec Media got it afaik when the magazine was founded.
