Default Need new case fans...

Hey guys,

I'm looking for some new case fans for my PC. The current ones are working fine, but they are more than a couple of years old, so better safe than sorry.

I need 80mm by 80mm by 25mm case fans, two for intake and two for exhaust. No real price tag, but a nice balance between quiet and air flow would be great. LED lights are kinda cool, but not a must. Cold is a must.

Suggestions would be great, links even better, links and explinations worth a million bucks.

These kind of grabbed my attention... what do you think?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Do you want pretty or do you want massive CFM?
Do you want quiet or do you want to HEAR your fan investment 24/7/365?
Preemptively changing fans is a waste of time and money unless they are already making a lot of noise and are caked in filth.
Most modern fans should last about 5 years anyways.

I really would not worry about case fans too much unless you have already cleaned up the wiring on the inside of your case.
Then I would look for some ducting solutions next.
You can get more cooling accomplished with an $8.00 flexible duct than you likely can with all the fans in the world in your case with maybe the exception of the one in your power supply.

I would spend the money on beer. Booze and broads is really where it's at.
Save your money and travel to Eastern Europe or Russia if you have the guts. Lean a few hundred words of Russian (that's all you'll really need - you can pantomime the rest) and just arrive there without a plan.
Stay for a month, but keep out of the hotels. Live like a local on $200 for food and shelter. You can do it easy. Save a few dollars to bribe the malitizia for when you really screw up.
Blow five times that amount on women and homemade vodka that tastes like benzine. Kill your liver before it kills you.
Look for the girls from the outer provinces, inside of malls and outside of clubs, that are living in Moscow or Saint Pete illegally without a residency permit. They impress easily and are very grateful.
Sure they are underweight and have a haircut that was given to them by their girlfriend, but as an American with a valid passport and a pocket full of dead presidents, you will be the personification of a living god to those 'devs'.
That's what I would do with the fan money.

But, if you want fans, these people have some.

I just picked up some fan 'bling' for my new rig from the 'egg (blue LEDs baby) but most computer "performance" stuff is a rip-off.
I think the color blue lowers the ambient temperature inside my case by 3c.
I read that somewhere.
Maybe at Tom's

wow, remind me not to let my girlfriend read your advice on fans.

My fans right now are the ones that were in my dad's case when he first put it together, so they've been through at least 50 pounds of dust and 4-5 years of service. I'd much rather put the money into a SATA drive or a new processor, but the fans are so close to their death bed...

I was looking at a thermaltake four pack, but they only have 4 pin molex connectors, and my two exhaust fans are hooked up to the mobo. I don't think I have any adaptors...

I think I've found my match made in heaven. I'm going to order four of 'em.

Good airflow to noise ratio I think, and the connectors I need.

just buy 10 of these 80mm masscool fans they aren't pretty, and they aren't quiet, but for $12.90 shipped they're a damn good deal.

Thermaltake's fan specs are a big fib / lie.

You want some quiet with decent air flow from a 80mm fan?
Look to 80X38mm fans...If you have room for more depth.
If you have room on the diameter...Look to the Silverstone fans that are 92mm but mount to 80mm holes.
Provantage.com had Arctic Cooling fans on sale awhile back.

The better LED fans, if you must, are CoolerMaster brand.

Best solution, mod the case for 92mm fans.

Tt offers dBA at start voltage and cfm at 12V. Great marketing.

If you mod for 92mm, look for decent fans at allelectronics.com or bgmicro.com.
Quite often the have some very good fans for cheap.

The fans are attached with these plastic holder things, not screws... I don't know if I can fit a bigger fan in there, but a deeper fan shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Any good 80mm by 25mm suggestions? Thermaltake is apparently a no no...
