Arrow Super Flower Leadex 1000W Review

Quote:
Not very long ago, Super Flower wasn't really a name on anyone's radar screen. They made decent units to be sure, but they were just kind of there. Then, someone over at SF headquarters woke up, saw the latest awesome unit out there, and said, "wait a minute, I bet we can do that, too." The Golden Green platform came out and started turning heads, but Super Flower didn't stop there. With the new 80 Plus Platinum efficiency certification level, the Golden King platform came out and turned even more heads. Now, Super Flower would like me to test the new Leadex platform. This is the next step in their journey for dominance at the top of the power supply game. Let's find out how well they pulled it off.

Internal layout looks like it was inspired by X-series. Not gonna complain about that, no sir.

That's a beastly unit there.

Hopefully anyone that pics it up will drop the stamped grill in favor of a standard wire one.

Fantastic unit, though I'm really getting tired of all the CrapXons everywhere... I would've ducked a whole point for it, but I'm just a stray dog, a far cry from being a Wolf, so I don't have that privilege...

Thanks for the review! I wonder who will grab this design first... And more importantly, how come NZXT went with FSP, and not this design? Price?

The solids are not so awful.

If they were the electrolytics I'd have to agree though.

As far as I can see and understand it, there are wet electrolytic CrapXons on the modular board. Ok, so they're not the primary filters, but they do serve a purpose, otherwise they wouldn't be there. I can't help wondering what impact will their bloating have on the output quality. After all, where they are, airflow will be scarce.

You're right, I overlooked them as I thought they were NCC's like on the primary & secondary sides of the main PCB.

Mostly due to a color thing, and reading the review on my lunch-break today.

You mean Ducky the mechanical keyboard company who also happens to sell some PSUs?

I usually take 2 points off for CapXon. For fuhjyyu and brands like that, 3 points will come off. For Sacon, 4 points. They are the only brand I know of with 100% failure rates after 1 year.

Super Flower not on anyone's radar? Back in 1999, Antec and Super Flower was all TCWO sold!
