I was just thinking...NCIX should give you a refund, or replace it with another brand and then give LG what for..

I asked them, they said no. I may be taking a break from them, honestly, for monitors. I am three for three with monitors that have had issues from there.

That $90 Acer G205HL from Staples? Had a bad pixel, it massaged away, been totally fine ever since. It's kind of a low res monitor being a 20," but it just works.

About a year ago, I was shopping for a 55" LCD.

Anyway, I did some shopping @ Best Buy, and, twice (IIRC) I was told, by their employees, to AVOID LG. They said that LG's customer service was a nightmare. Essentially, good luck getting LG to do any warranty service.

At the time, I thought it a bit strange to have BB's employees telling me to avoid LG. But, ultimately, I did avoid LG, and bought a Toshiba.

Anyway, maybe some tags would be nice?

    Like:

    LG warranty issues

trouble getting LG to warranty their product

LG's warranty service is the worst

LG will not honor their warranty

LG's products are good, customer service sucks!!!

LG's NOT a company to do business with

Avoid LG's products, at all costs

Perhaps Google's bots will pick up the tags?

We do have an LG refrigerator, and it's been good. But, I shutter to think about repairing the damn thing.

My folks have a 40" Toshiba LED model. Not a bad set - speakers suck, but then again they all do on these flat panels. I've been thinking about the 32" version of that unit.

How about Sharp TV sets (careful not to cut yourself)? I really like their Aquos line...
Careful what you wish for... You just might get it.

Nothing in stock in Sharp where I want to buy.

Ok, the warranty on the LG is toast. And I found the problem, too. One of the ribbon cables out of the t-con to the right matrix board appears to have a dirty connector. I can make both lines go away by pressing on that connector. Will see what I can do for it. If it turns out not to be the cable and it's just a coincidence, the t-con will likely need replacing.

The cable running from the t-con to the mainboard wasn't fully seated, and a ball of solder fell out of the tuner module. Nice work, LG. Not.

Edit - stupid thing was faking me out with dynamic contrast. Lines are not going away after all.

Or Philips ones (due to Ambilight).

Philips sets are out of an as yet unknown to me Chinese factory... I start looking at those units, I might as well go with the cheapest 40" I can get my hands on

I bought a Vizio sound bar (I think that's what it's called), hooked up an old sub to it, and the sound is really nice. But, you're right, the speakers on the new LED LCD's are junk.

As far as recommending Toshiba, I don't know, yet. As far as recommending Sony, yes, I think that they, in general, make good products.

As far as LG, NO MAS! After your story, and the warnings, I will NOT buy anything from LG.

Above, I think it's: "shudder to think." I don't think that using shutters, whilst thinking, is a good idea.

It's funny, as I came to your site, I thought: "hey, you idiot, you used the wrong damn word." So much for all of the time I spent in college, huh?

In the end, LG can take their shitty CS...

For the record, I have an LG 42" plasma. It's been fine for years.

But after hearing all this, I don't think I'd buy another LG.

Both of my monitors are Samsung. No problems there either.
