    Just received the Audinst HUD-MX1!

First impression is that it makes a HUGE difference for headphones, even for my el cheapo Sennhiser HD201. Plan on upgrading to a pair of Sony MDR ZX700 soon.

The lineout to my new Corsair SP2500 while not as dramatic it's an improvement, the sounds more "musical" or full bodied if you will, in lack of a better word. The bass seems deeper and more pronounced so i had to dial back a little on the SP 2500.

Again this just my first 10 minutes , im sure i will noticed other differences after listening with for a few days.

Thanx again Tator Tot for the help and recommendations!

You're welcome, as a bit of personal advice; I'd avoid Sony's headphone offerings if you can.

While they don't sound bad, they're built rather cheap in my experience. I have a pair of MDR-V6's that I've had to replace the pleather pads on about 4 times over 2 years because they crack and peal so easily.

Thanx for the heads up, yea i know the quality isn't that good, then again not many headphones in this price range is buildt to last a lifetime.

I'll don't recon they will be used for more then a year anyway. .-)

Wolf a question if you don't mind.. :-)

Since you have dissected the SP2500, is there a way to remove the metal grills on the satellites ?

If so, will affect the sound quality in any way ?

    Thanx!

Well i thought i post a update on my experience with the SP2500.... :-)

While i really liked the sound from the Sp2500, (especially given the price range) there where a few things that annoyed me.

The look of the system annoyed me more then i thought it would... I don't own a PC, let alone a custom buildt one with flashing neons. The Corsair SP2500 looked very out of place besides my Mac's...

The satellites while excellent for their size, i felt i had to turn up the volume quite a bit for them to really sing. This is no problem if your just listening to music and wants to be immersed in it, but for working and have the music in the background it's a bit to loud.

Bottom line though is that there is nothing wrong with the SP2500, i think it's VERY hard to get a better sounding 2.1 system for the money.

What made me return them was that i ultimately want something else entirely in terms of soundstage. Something i can't get from a 2.1 system in this size/price range.

So i'v listened and researched quite a few active monitors, and will probably get the Tannoy 601a by the end of the week.

Yes i know a totally different setup and price, but hopefully something that will work better for me.

PS. Just received my new Sony MDR ZX700 headphone, and im quite happy with them together with the Audinst HUD-MX1, especially since i don't have speakers at the moment...

Thanx again for the help and advice!

Yeah, the high crossover to the sub tends to mess with the soundstage a bit.

I've had a pair of these for just over two years. Today, they stopped working.

The control panel still gets power and works. But no sound. No hissing. Nothing. They worked fine on saturday. Came to work to find they were off which was strange as I don't remember shutting them off. Turned them on, and nothing.

I opening them up and do not see any fried components or smell anything funny. Any suggestions where to start with diagnosing these and fixing them?
