Hello, all...hate to be the necromancer here (and on my first post too...wheeeee), but I just purchased the latest version of this PSU. V2.3 which now is touted as being Bronze capable. I noticed that Newegg is still displaying the Jonnyguru recommended award, but I don't think it's the same PSU anymore, no? So that would mean a retest/re-review should be in order. I'd be happy to ship it in on my dime to see where it stands these days...thoughts?

(BTW, been lurking here for years and have bought numerous PSU's based on the tests and reviews here. LOVE me some JonnyGURU!)

Very few PSU companies will release minor model changes to reviewers. Some Gigabyte motherboards (for example) have had 3 or 4 versions, and I'm yet to see any reviews which compare all of them. Since Jonny is now working with Corsair part time, I'm pretty sure he could say if the changes warranted a retest.
On another note, nice necro for a newbie And welcome to the madhouse.
Intel i7-2600k with an XSPC Raystorm water block, 4x4GB Corsair Dominator, SLi Evga-GTX560Ti-448 FTWs, Asrock Extreme4 Gen3, Crucial M4 256GB SSD, Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB HDD, powered by a Silverstone Strider+ 850 PSU in a Silverstone TJ-07BW case.
I'm not buying EK GPU blocks ever again. (One GPU killed)

The platform is the same. For the most part, 12v amperage & efficiency have been boosted. But that's it.

I wouldn't really worry about the difference, since overall, you're getting a better product.

What Tater said. It's still roughly based off the CWT DSA-II. There shouldn't be any performance hit for the improved efficiency.

What I'd actually really like to see are those new Hipro-made units.

Mr. Gerow, would you mind sending one to our resident Canis Lupus Oklahomis?
Careful what you wish for... You just might get it.

That's a little OT since only the newest TX are Chicony. They're already long in the tooth and probably on their way out, so it would be tough to get a review out there.

Actually, I believe a new unit will be coming out around Computex time that will be using Chicony. There's probably plenty of review samples going out for that one.

Which models are built by Hipro (Chicony)?
It's been a hard day's night and I've been working like a dog.

Like I said, right now it's just the most current version of the TX (the one with the fanless mode).
