Default Review: Corsair GS800 Power Supply

TweakTown has just posted a review of the 800w unit from Corsair's GS series. As usual for TweakTown, it's a competently executed review, but I was a bit surprised by some of the results, esp. since we've come to expect great things from Corsair units.... check it out:

Maybe they too measure voltages after several inches of wire...

Something looks messed up on those voltage measurements. Can't even really say how good this thing is, although my expectations are pretty low for the GS-series, not something I'd ever buy for myself.

Well, Corsair have said they're not willing to send individual CX samples, unless intended for a round-up review, but they haven't said anything about the GS series...

I this this warrants a proper jG test, it's hard to believe a Corsair PSU would fall so flat on it's face.

What say you, Redbeard? Any chance of Corsair sending some review samples?
Careful what you wish for... You just might get it.

I think something may be up with their setup.

Hardware Secrets tested the GS800 and saw 3% voltage regulation. Though ripple was (mostly) the same.

Yeah, I'm not aware of anything like this in production. GS isn't meant to be TX specs, but it's going to hit ATX specifications. We'll look into it with them - either they got a bad unit or their test setup is screwed up or something.
