So I'm talking with this guy who's working in Haiti as a volunteer who's running his equipment off a shared generator. Apparently the genny's unreliable, power outages are frequent, voltage all over the place, lines are noisy beyond belief, and he's already lost one laptop charger to all this. He's asking about a UPS, but I honestly doubt a UPS on its own would do the job. I'm thinking he needs a line conditioner, and maybe a UPS just for power outages.

So any recommendations for this guy? I was looking at this Tripp Lite conditioner here: http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-LC1.../dp/B0000514G8
But I don't know much about which brands are quality or which specs are important as I've never had to buy one before. He doesn't need a lab quality conditioner, just something to keep voltage in the right neighborhood.
