Doesnt matter wether I have been in the presence of a G80or not. If it were as loud as the 5800U it would be all over the Net. People would be screaming bloody murder most likely.

    I didn't think so
I for one "have" been in the presence of a few GTX's and GTS's, and I can tell you that every one of them was louder then what they replaced. They may not "all' sound like Dustbusters, but I was looking for "experienced" users with the said card, who might
have somthing "useful" to point out. NOT what everybody on the net. thinks.
If I wanted to know that, I would just go to the Egg and read the "excellent" reviews on it

Well... so far I can say that the 8800GTX is quieter than my 7800GTX while idle (just running normal Windows apps.)

Hopefully I'll get to find out today what they sound like under load.

The 8800 GTX's fan doesn't kick into full speed even while gaming. You can force it to 100% in ntune but even then it still isn't loud or close to loud imo. Its quiet enough for me to leave it at full rpm 24/7.

I have a GTX from BFG and a GTS from eVGA in my house in two different comps,GTX replaced a X1800XT,GTS replaced a Asus EN7800GT,both were much less noisy then the cards they replaced.'Dustbuster' I think not...

All the clients that I installed these for, were "ALL" 7900 series GPU's,GT's,GTX's,GTO's And everybody knows the 7800 series is louder
then the 7900 series, and as for your X1800XT, that goes without saying

So mabey you can twirl that finger in your own ear

    It's almost there......

Coolbits didn't work with the 96.89 drivers that came with the card.

Downloading 97.44 now and will try again.

    Close up attached.

And the GPU fans aren't NEARLY as loud as my two 7800GTX's. Not even close.

EDIT: Funny... Installed latest drivers and Coolbits, set overclock and ran 3DMark'06 again and I actually scored lower. DOH!

New beta BIOS for the eVGA board and I'm up to 12884!
