    It's a little loud in idle, and not very efficient at lower loads but it's not a bad PSU.

    But if you'll have a P55 you may want something without VRM for the minor rails.

    why is that? just curious. i thought these were the silverstone variants?

    how do these compare to the other units out for say 60$ like the earthwatts from antec? is that a better psu? i was about to grab a pair of these for this price

    VRM -> also known as DC-DC Technology, only the +12V rail comes out the transformer.

    Better?

    The problem is that there is no 'the best PSU', there is always just the best compromise for a specific system.

    ie for an Atom/Ion based system it makes no sense to buy a 1,5kW Unit, those pico PSUs are 'the best' option for such a system, if you don't use too much disk drives.

    So the question is: do you need a 750W system or wouldn't you be better of with a smaller unit?

    So I'd rather recomm something like an Antec Earthwatts or so.

    BTW: I own a ST-85ZF, don't like it that much though.
