Default New powersupply chirping? 550vx corsair

Just got in the new power supply after my 400cx failed and I immediately put my ear to the PSU once I plugged it in. Surely enough it was making small sounds

something like chu chu chirp. I wouldn't hear it if I didnt try to listen so I am wondering if this is in anyway normal. Have any of you heard anything from your PSU from just plugging it in (with its power switch off)

Btw it works. I have powered on the system but I have no GPU as yet to see post and BIOS voltages but after making the "no GPU" beeps a final beep is heard which I think signifies that the system is posting. I'd like to know if its ok to continue using the PSU, and if not what other hobby may I pick up besides PCs because I'd be done with this crap!

did it happen when you switch on the PSU? I don't know wether it is normal or not, I have CX400 and sometimes it made "chu chu chirp" sounds like that.

it makes the sound when the switch is on as well, but its there when the switch is off. Its a bit louder when the switch is on. I moved the computer around the house and it seems to make less noise in other sockets but the noise is definitely still there - just with a bit less "chirp" :-S

When the computer is powered on I am not sure the noise is still there.

p35a from foxconn, but the noise is without the PSU plugged into anything but the Wall (avr and surge and even without those 2). I'm assuming its not something to do with the actual power producing parts of the PSU but the regulatory parts?

Think i'm going to go ahead and use it while keeping an eye on voltages. Seems a common thing for corsair PSUs to make a sound in my country.

I think it's reasonably common for the coils in PSU to make a little bit of noise. Many also have a relay (switch) to reduce current when PSU is initially powered up, and that could make a bit of noise too.
