    I don't see the 80PLUS advertised anywhere.
    Yes. One of the last commincations I had with Dave Hammock before he disappeared from the web was how a major brand single +12V rail PSU wasn't shutting down when shorted. We were literally arc welding with the PSU. Hopefully Dave's absense isn't due to the fact that he got over zealous with the welding.

    It says M12D...which is the first Seasonic that I know of over 700W besides the X900.

    First I know of with DC-DC conversion as well

    The only retail 850W units Seasonic has ever produced are the M12D 850W and the S12D 850W, and since this unit is modular, it's pretty clear which model it is.
