I think it was a manufacturing defect in which the insides were accidentally traded with a leadman lp-8860's.

I doubt these PSUs were flying off the shelves at full price, so they're probably just trying to get rid of them. Or Sirtec had a bunch of spare 1kW units lying around and decided to sell them to Sunbeamtech for cheap.

    Laptop: Dell Vostro 3450, i5 2410M, 8GB DDR3-1333, AMD Radeon HD 6630M 1GB, Intel X25-M 80GB, Seagate Momentus 750GB, Win7 Home Premium.

Assuming you actually get the $80 rebate, this is the DEAL OF THE YEAR, for 1KW PSU's!
Yes. One of the last commincations I had with Dave Hammock before he disappeared from the web was how a major brand single +12V rail PSU wasn't shutting down when shorted. We were literally arc welding with the PSU. Hopefully Dave's absense isn't due to the fact that he got over zealous with the welding.

Probably an issue with newegg's automated pricing system.
    Software readings are crap.

Could be this. Huge rebate while they are selling slow, and the company that does the rebates usually just ignores it then says they never got it.
