should be no problem, although ATI doesn't make the 260 core 216.

It "might/should" work, depending on how far time has degraded the PSU, your case temp & the +12V rail assignments.

The label says, not that Ultra labels can be trusted, a combined max of +12V@35A, 420W, so...
Yes. One of the last commincations I had with Dave Hammock before he disappeared from the web was how a major brand single +12V rail PSU wasn't shutting down when shorted. We were literally arc welding with the PSU. Hopefully Dave's absense isn't due to the fact that he got over zealous with the welding.

I still have an old Ultra X-finity 600W around here somewhere. It works fine, and only got replaced because it was getting a bit noisier as time went by. It has a nice mirror finish and incredibly ugly flat white cables.

It is an Ultra PSU and it is a Win-tech made PSU. So that's already two strikes against the PSU's quality IMO. Coupled with the fact that the PSU was rated at 25C and only has a mere 35A on the +12V rail, it really doesn't look like that PSU will be enough. According to the Corsair PSU finder, you need at least 33A on the +12V rail. So since that Ultra is rated at such a low temperature, once inside a case, it may not be capable of providing 30A on the +12V rail.
