    Default Motherboard destroy a psu?

    Alright guys,

I just sold a motherboard this past week to a guy who said he couldn't get it running, now I receive an email telling me that the motherboard took out his psu.

He had tried 3 different units, but suspected the one unit was bad....yes, that's where the red flag comes in.

He also stated that he was shorting the power headers.

This is an X48 chipset so it's not ancient.

I see the psu taking out the board, but not the board taking out the psu.

Can you guys enlighten me on this and the probability....Wolf, Paul

If the PSU has working protection circuitry, the mainboard can't kill it.

Thank you, much appreciated and exactly what I had thought. It was a Coolermaster 850, which indeed has the circuit protection.

Edit: So either way it's a psu issue.
