VLC for most non-DVD videos, Windows Media Center (Vista Home Premium) with Nvidia Purevideo for DVDs, Winamp for audio. Any videos that won't play in the above, Media Player Classic, although VLC does a damn good job of playing most anything.

Somehow the search for a good media player has always been there in my mind. Never quite preferred the default WMP and have tried so many of them in the course of my computing. VLC, DivX Real but somehow I seem to lack a compact one, any suggestions! Currently I am playing the default Nero Showtime.

An update to that, I now use the dreaded PowerDVD for DVDs and Blu-Rays, because the OEM version that came with my drive is a 6 channel version, and it supports AVIVO, and DTS.

How about Portable VLC? I've used it a few times, works great.

I've been using Gom player for about two years and I'm satisfied with it.
