    Default which of the two?

Hey guys. I'm getting ready to put together an SLI rig, and I was set on the Corsair 620w until I realized only 2x 6pin PCI-E lines. Now the debate is moving towards either:

    A) Seasonic M12 SS-700HM 700w PSU.

    or

    B) Silverstone Decathalon 750w PSU.

both were selected for the 4x PCI-E power connectors, modularity (is that a word?), and hopefully silence. Both are from trusted, quality manufacturers, have good efficiency, and are probably both well regarded around these here parts. My question is, which one is better regarded, and if time and patience permits, why?

Thanks a bunch guys. BTW, if anyone would like to take a general look at my build and suggest different parts, feel free.

Either one would work. If you get a chance, I'd suggest taking a look at the BFG 800W-ES.

Will do. So both are equally quiet? I also remember some problems with the DA tweakin' out when they were first released (was it the fan?). That's one of the reasons I posted looking for advice.

Seasonic is quieter of the two.

Decathlon did have some buzzing from the transformer on earlier revisions, but even with that fixed the Corsair is still quieter.

And welcome back Paul! It's been a while.

Now I think it's safe for us to say that our new Decathlon's are quieter than the competition (e.g. DA700/DA800).

Send one to SPCR to direct compare it with Modu82+. When we speak about sound they're the reference. In Anandtech I don't trust, they make a mess from a PSU review.

The seasonic isn't quite up to the standard of their other psu's silence wise thanks to the extra 60mm fan. For a quieter high end psu i'd suggest zalman 850w-hp, it features in the 22dba pc SPCR just reviewed. xbitlabs gave it a good review too. note the fan speed vs load, it stays at 720rpm up to 700w, compared to up to

compare to seasonic 700w which has the 60mm fan running past about 250w load
