Default 3-way SLi overview at AT

    http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3183&p=1

"The 3-way SLI system averaged 730W in Bioshock, and get this, we even saw the machine pull over 800W from the wall outlet..."

..."I told him how much power the system used under load and while idle. His response? "JESUS". "No", I said, "not even Jesus needs this much power".

Yep. And that's just running Bioshock on a Core 2 Extreme/780i with one hard drive. Imagine what the power consumption is with Quad FX? Or with a RAID array? Or with even more demanding games bound to materialize in the next couple years? Also, figure on the transients their little Extech meter isn't picking up?

Me... I'll wait for D9P and just go with two cards for G92 Quad-SLI goodness.

3-way SLI, thats insane. The only people who are going to get it, are the ones that do not understand value of diminishing returns and probably slept thought economics 101.

Personally I would rather see something like dual 8800GT ala 7950GX2 approach.

    Edit: Second "opinion" http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=495

That half of the people think it sounds like a wonderful place to live.
The other half thinks it sounds like a wonderful place to pillage. "
