Default Road Trip! Hialeah to Macon to Louisville to Gurnee

Well, here I am at the end of my first leg. Loaded up the Elantra, fired up the radar detecter and GPS and headed North.

Hmm... the ass end of the car usually rides higher than that.

I know a car is a woman (despite what Renault said in the late 70's) because she started bitching 5 hours into the trip.

I stopped at the Steak n' Shake in Wildwood, FL (where the Turnpike meets I-75) and had all of the wrong things to eat.

My heart was still beating after the double steakburger w/ cheese and bacon, so I ordered a double of cheese fries. My attempts at killing myself failed.

After about 5 or 6 hours of driving, I strarted getting restless. I even stopped at a Cracker Barrell just South of Valdosta, not for a mid-day breakfast, but for a FSU T-Shirt and a bottle of diet Stewarts Orange Cream soda.

I finally arrived at Macon, GA. The room is nice, and (obviously) I have Intarweb access. I went across the street to the Outback but they were full. I then wandered over to the Logan's and found a stool at the bar.

I used to live in Valdosta and don't remember everyone having a thick accent. But maybe that's because Valdosta is very close to Florida. In Macon, everyone talks funny. Like those in South Carolina and Alabama. In fact, I thought that maybe it would be best for the union if this part of the states break off into their own country.

Then again... Tennessee and Kentucky are on tomorrow's stretch, so I better not get ahead of myself.

Well, it's just after 9 and I'm thinking of having a couple more Mchelob Amber Bocks and hitting the sack early. Maybe I'll get up early, throw on my FSU T-Shirt and take advantage of the "continental breakfast" in the lobby and hit the road early. We'll see.

Good grief, man, I think my own heart skipped a few beats just reading that. Then again I had a huge double cheeseburger with fries and beef gravy for lunch, so I really shouldn't be throwing stones in my glass house

The back-lit pic of the four beers made me LOL.

Be safe and don't make fun of the way those hill-jacks talk.

Yeah, my comment wasn't very nice. Guess I should watch myself. Everyone here is very nice. It's just an accent I'm not used to and it sort of reminds me of when I lived in South Carolina where they believed in paddling for discipline, tied my left hand behind my back to teach me to write with my right hand (didn't really work), said I talked funny, and told me that I made my "K's" wrong.

Oh... lunch... we'll see how the timing works out. I need to get through Macon and then Atlanta and then I'll be in your neck. You've got my cell phone #, so feel free to bug me around 1.
