    Default PSU ratings just for system stability

    "Optimal load for system stability" should be the title of the thread. Oh well, I tried.

    I am trying to research PSU(s) for an upcoming rig and I was wondering if I could get some advice on a topic. If system stability is primary concern, where would you want the load % on the PSU? For example, would it be best to have the average load @ ~50% of the PSU capability and have lots of extra power if needed? Or would it be better having the load percentage closer to 80% or 90%?

    This system will be using 100% of the processors 24/7 as it is going to be a crunching machine as well as a file server and I'm looking to have the machine operational for a long time.

    EDIT: I just realized that it is going to be rather difficult to find a PSU with 10+ 4-pin molex connectors.

    EDIT 2: Well, the Ultra X3 1kw has 10 4-pin molex connectors. And the Etasis ET850 has 8, so I can cut two SATA power connectors and resolder them.

    90% 24/7 it's a little bit too much IMO.
    I'd say 50-70% 24/7 is OK for a good brand PSU.

    This is one of those times I readily recommend PC Power and Cooling because if you call them they get you set with whatever wiring harness you want.
