Another gutless wonder

So as per suggestion, i've created a seperate thread with more photos for this gutless wonder.

This unit used to retail for around 15-20€, mostly in the eastern european markets. It's suppost to be rated for 520W, of that is 340W on the 12V rail.
Suffice to say, those ratings, as we come to expect, are rather, well, optimistic.

Specs of the unit. No 80+ certification of any kind, no ERP, EUP either.


Yes, as super fan. The reason why this unit is in shambled, believet or not. Died.


soldering seems to be...Acceptable?


Thin wires, pretty crappy filing connectors all around.


No filtering of any kind to be seen, at least to my eyes.

Luckily, the reason for this PSU to be put out of comission is funny enough because of the loud fan. Rest of the photos are here.

As noted in the previus thread, this unit shut down at around 250W of AC load at the one minute mark. So obviously way over rated.

Solytech did make some decent units in higher segments though.

No... no they didn't. Solytech couldn't do anything right. That's why they went bankrupt.

Obviously this unit is disgustingly bad, also soldering is far from acceptable, it doesn't look that bad since in cheapos they clearly save on solder itself, so there are hardly any unsighthly spots with excess of it, but you can also count trimmed leads.

No. It was. That review is from 2012 before Aris really did proper tear downs.

When did this happen? Apex Gaming products have been sold all year long here in the US and their site proudly proclaims Solytech as one of their founders.
