    Default Antec ATOM V550, thoughts?

    Hi,

I've roaming across computer hardware communities in the country, and found that they often recommended this PSU.
The PSU looks interesting to laymans because of its kinda reputable brand and a low price of 480,000 IDR (about USD32)

I've googled and found its internals on a Thai site, if that helps

How is it? Is it recommend-able for cheap systems without graphics card?

    Thank you.

It's really low-end, 32 dollars seems on the expensive side. At least here you can get something better for 32 dollars.

So it's not worth the asking price?
The only units that are in price range of 30ish dollars here are Gamemax GP-450, 1stplayer Black.Sir 450w, and the Antec. Which one is the better option?

Speaking of which, I can't find Gamemax and 1stplayer's internal anywhere, maybe that's just my lack of Google-fu..

    Gamemax

    1st player

None of those 3 is really recommendable, and we'd need tests to say which one is least bad.

Which is why you should spend more than 30 on a PSU.

What can you get for 40 dollars? Here we can buy a Cooler Master MWE White V2 450W. Which is a really big step above the three you named.

Yeah I know that. Actually I'm seeking for more valid response here.
I've encountered some PC builders who use this PSU and their response is like "well I've built <insert number here> with this and no customers have complained to me ever since"
They value PSU of whether it have broken on them or not, not from its quality.

The MWE v2 is 50 here. Yes it's a big step, but even $5 increase for us is a lot, since we're in a developing country and minimum wage here is small.

They only warranty their builds for one year at the most, right?

Afaik, yes they only give one year warranty. And this PSU hasn't even been on market for a year yet.

Yeah but that's the reason it's totally worth it to get decent power supply. Most people can't afford a failing power supply or one that kills their hardware. They don't have the luxury to buy a new PC every three years for example. If there is a cheap one that's a lot better, it's totally worth it for them. If it means that it will last much longer and means the PC lasts much longer.

So if there is one that's 10 dollars more and a lot better I would certainly recommend it.
