Looks way closer to Cougar GX-F platform than to Corsair Vengeance Silver to me ...

This indeed looks like a somewhat changed version of HEC's TPK, like in the Cougar GX-F, nowhere close to Vengeance Silver.

Am I the only one mildly annoyed that when the RGB fan is facing up the Corsair sails logo on the rear of the unit is upside down?
Then the Corsair sails logo on the modular panel side is right way up when the fan is facing up.

That looks clean af, I would believe that this is a gold SKU. Vengeance 'silver' looks more like bronze to me.

Guess EVGA B5 is TPK based too?

Looks like, too bad there would be no reviews of it.

EVGA stopped sending review samples once they canceled their cooperation with Super Flower.

It's not a leak if the embargo is today.

It's not unusual for HEC to rearrange platforms, but use the same parts, but rearrange the platform. I have a BOM list. It's 99% the same as Vengeance Silver.

For example, I'm working on a Gold PSU with HEC that uses the same platform as the EVGA GT, but you would not recognize it as being the same. We had to rearrange the components considerably to reduce the housing size from 150mm to 140mm.

Nope. Only Silver. Would have to change too many things to make it Gold and then you guys would say "it's the same as GX-F".

    No. It's actually Silver: https://www.plugloadsolutions.com/80...x?id=25&type=2

As we discussed here previously, getting 80 PLUS cert is the last thing we do. Like during PVT. The "goal" was 80 PLUS Bronze because we knew we were taking a Silver PSU and adding an RGB fan. Since RGB LED's require power, we were pretty pesimistic that the same PSU would still hit Silver, so we decided on Bronze efficiency being the goal. But the four RGB LEDs and the additional control circuitry obviously didn't use as much power as we anticipated.

Who knows. Let's see how this does. Now that we have a really good fan (the longest development aspect of this project) and a working control circuit (though it's not auto-detected by iCUE, you have to select it from a drop down), we can make any PSU RGB.

Just because the PCB layout is similar, doesn't make it the same platform.

Just because two PSUs are the same platform, doesn't mean it uses the same parts.

Does the RGB LED power consumption count for 80 Plus if the LEDs can be turned off?

I don't know their methodology on RGB PSUs. We did all of our measurements with LED's on, full white. And the PSU does Rainbow Wave by default out of the box. Maybe 80 PLUS turned the LEDs off before they started testing (which can be done after pressing the button on the back a number of times).

Still.... I'm sticking with Bronze. But I'm not going to say I'm unhappy that 80 PLUS listed it as Silver.

But do you(industry) still call it the same platform if internal layout is completely changed?
Then what makes platform a platform? circit design?

And why some market 80PLUS as lower level than actual certs? Is it 'business thing'?
