Default Weird issue with coiil whine ..

    Hello,

I have a coil whine problem in my rig but I would like your opinion

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x8d...ature=youtu.be
(with headphones we hear much better on my speakers i can't hear it and I assure you it's audible IRL)

I had read that this kind of coil whine is not dangerous for the devices , whether it is the power supply or the graphics card, could you confirm it to me.

What is weird is that the noise occurs at + 30FPS +, i've limited FPS to find out it does not occurs only at high fps as i was used to with coil whining GPU... I try to play with the sliders of MSI afterburner and I can hear that the sound changes .

After that I only hear it if the fans are at their lowest and the panel is open so if it is certain that it cannot harm my configuration, it is not very serious but I would like to be sure.
However I would like to understand because the problem arises with:

    1. 2 different graphics cards (EVGA FTW3 2080ti and Asus Strix 2080ti Oc that someone gave me for test purposes). The two cards do not make this noise in another config
    2. 2 power supplies of the same model (Seasonic Ultra Prime titanium 850w)
    3. 2 motherboards of the same model. Asus Maximus Hero XI
    4. Cstate on and off
    5. Mod cable cables or original cable

it's driving me crazy mostly because I don't understand WHY

    Thanks for your help

    That's normal.

And not just with 2080 Ti.

My daughter has an XFX Radeon RX 5500 XT and it is completely, dead silent... except for at one very particular load/frame rate. I can duplicate it 100% of the time during a particular scene of Catzilla.

I know Corsair builds (Corsair One, Vengeance, Origin) will sometimes put ferrite beads over the PCIe power cables to reduce the noise. I'm actually planning on trying that today.

Seasonic will send me cable with ferrites i'll see if that helps ! I just hope they won't be ugly

But where does the problem come from since i've swapped almost all componets without being able to solve that?

And coil whine isn't suppose to happen at high fps?

    The graphics card.

It could be high FPS, low FPS, high load, low load... just like when a PSU has coil whine.

The magnetics are always vibrating in all electronics. Just at certain loads they will vibrate at an audible frequency.

Should I swap all cables to see or just PCIE?

For the card what I don't get is that this card wasn"t having coil noise on another rig. And the one i exchanged had coil noise on mine but not on the one which it's installed now.... Or maybe the person is less sensitive as I am maybe I don't know, we did an exchange via the post office .

i guess i can live with it.. Panel close, vents on and headset i don't hear it but it's more about understanding this issue

Only the PCIe power is going to make a difference.

You can also try different HDMI or display ports on the graphics card.

I tried that, also tried to plug it on another power outlet but always the same.

But why are those two cards not making noise in another rig?

I'm considering to ask for an refund of this PSU and try another one but.. which one?

Someome told me to take this one : https://www.amazon.fr/Enermax-EMT800...075NYQRWX?th=1

BTW: I put the ferrite bead on my daughter's PCIe power cable today. It didn't do squat.

Well i doubt it will work too to be honest. I'll get some today and try.

And tomorrow i will receive an HX850 which I really hope will solve the issue..

If not i'll keep the seasonic I suppose and try to live with it !
