Default Want to upgrade my pc for gaming

    Hey,

I have hp 800g1, (ssf pc)
    I5 4570 cpu
    Intel q87 express motherboard
    8 gb ddr3 ram
    Dvd read write
    1tb hdd
    250 ssd
    320 psu

I want to upgrade it for gaming but it has only 320w PSU. I think thats not enough for dedicated graphics card like amd rx 570 or 1660. This Graphics card are used its available bin cheap rate so i consider to upgrade.

I want upgrade PSU but the problem is motherboard has 6 pin connector for PSU. It is safe to use 24 pin to 6 pin converter and and giving 8 pin external power to grapy card.

    Or

I have another option to use separate 450 PSU to give power to Graphics card

Suggest me budget psu for this build if it is possible to upgrade.

It only has a 320W PSU?

Is this a prebuild? An HP, Dell or Lenovo, etc.?

EDIT: Never mind. I missed the HP 800 G1 part.

Looks like your supply for the HP 800 G1 is 12V only and so cannot just be replaced.

Powering the card separately would be a bit of a hack, and they may be cheap because they have been used for mining; I just used a video card that did not need extra power (GT 1030), and no fan so I had one less thing to worry about.

I'm afraid it's an office machine. Not a gaming machine.

As ashiekh said, you could put a low profile, low power card in there, but the number of games you'll be able to play will be limited.

I have a similar, but older, HP with a Core 2 Quad and GT 1030 and unfortunately it can play Far Cry 4 without issue; so I had to upgrade my Son's PC to stop him taking mine over.

So I guess it depends on what games you want to play.

You can look at a GTX 1050 Ti low profile or GTX 1650 low profile.

You need an low profile graphics card in a SFF case otherwise it's to big. These are the fastest graphics card available. They also don't require a 6 or 8 pins PEG power connector so you don't need to replace the PSU. And faster is also not useful as you CPU is a bit to slow for many modern games.
