Anyone want to help me trouble shoot with a multimeter an RGB 4 pin light strip?

I want to test my RGB strips and need some guidance.

I'm assuming the first step is to check continuity on the 12+ circuit?

I just have a lot of questions about RGB strip lights, such as what happens when you have a short between the 12+ and the green circuit? I've read that on 12V and 5V nothing happens (no burning or shorting out equipment) except the colors are all wrong because the specific color is closed. However, this type of information is really sparse.

Any help is appreciated.

Wow. Just got the Amazon multi meter and the continuity buzzer sounded like it had a bad connection. Just a bunch of static and an really anemic music sqreeeee--screeeeeatchy--screet, screet, and never a clear, sharp BEEEEEEEP.

Immediately requested a return and Amazon is sending another one out, and they said I don't have to return the one I have now. lol
