Default Question regarding the Corsair CV450

I'm currently using a system based on Ryzen 3200g without a discrete GPU powered by the Corsair CV450, is it a bad idea to add something the RX 570 to my system without upgrading the PSU? If so then what kind of GPU can I use without also upgrading the PSU?

Not a bad idea, RX570 only uses little power.

The list of CPUs you can upgrade to safely is going to be longer than the ones you can't. But that's a long list just the same. I don't think anyone wants to post that.

I mean.. a GT 1030? Sure! RX 570? Why not? 2080 Ti? Nah.

Hi Jon, I think you could estimate a ceiling on when it starts becoming a bad idea, maybe if I were to go Nvidia the 1650 super is still within reason? Also I've read your posts saying that pairing double forward PSUs with high end cards is a bad thing, could you explain why?

Without going into too much detail, it has to do with a thing called "hard switching" that DF produces due to the fixed switching frequency. You can Google the rest.

    These days, it hardly is.

Of course, I'm a little biased as I introduced the first LLC resonant PSU into the ATX market back in 2007. Of course, working for a graphics card company (BFG) it seemed like the thing to do.

    Did you mean LLC?

    Which Corsair supplies use LLC?

Yeah. LLC. The first BFG 800W+ PSUs were LLC.

The Corsair PSUs that are LLC are CX, TX-M, RM, RMx, RMi, HS, HXi, AX and AXi.

The only DF ones are VS, CV and CX-M.
