    Default Su'scon capacitors

    How good are Su'scon capacitors?

I have a secondhand Dell monitor that is 9 years old and looked inside
where there are Su'scon capacitors and all looked to still be in good shape.

Apple uses a lot of Su'Scon too. Probably because they're made in the same factory as Dell.

They're usually good, but they have some bad series too.

Good to know; I'll not rush to replace them.

Done a few recaps on Ultrasharp monitors through the years. They are generally Su'scon caps but they're also in 10 year old monitors that are generally caked in dust on the inside. So they definitely get their mileage out of them.

Usually when the caps fail, you'll notice by a line of a single color going down the middle of the screen. Or the backlight going out completely if it's one of the old CCFL models.

How strange that these guys put them at rock bottom

The problem with having gone this far is that the price of good capacitors is relatively small so I'll just go ahead and replace them with Nichicon low ESR units.
