Default Why you shouldn't use a well made 4 pin molex to (6+2)8pin pcie adaptors

Why you shouldn't use 4pin molex to (6+2)8 pin pcie connectors , specially if they are well made
This is a great example of a person that bought a quality adaptor that took the beating , but sadly the single 12v pin in the back of that psu couldn't , because its not made for a sustained load greater than 8A , Ironically he might have been better off buying a crappy adapter that would melt before the pin in the psu

One reason I don't like modular... more connectors that might fail.

doesn't really matter if it was one or two or even 4 as long as he uses them from the same cable , all of these are sourced from a single 12v pin in the back of the psu

What PSU is that? Looks like Corsairs text. HXi?
Whatever it is it should come with enough PCIe cables in the box, and even if you do need more they're pretty cheap and easy to find. CP-8920143 for Type 4 PCIe pigtail cable on Corsair website for only $3.99, probably not much more than what you'd pay for those Molex > PCIe adapters on ebay.

Do you know this person? What model PSU is it? What graphic card(s) were they using? Why on earth did they use molex > PCIe?

its an RMi850 , it was probably for a mining rig , because I donít see any other case that a person found himself out of the already available 6 x 8pin pcie connectors that come with an rmi 850w

its a shady seller on the internet , he says that he fried that connector when he used it to power a gpu , yet he claims he didn't use it for mining , bottomline is you should never use adaptors , specially molex adaptors to power gpu's as it will not only damage the components but also potentially damage your psu

I've seen people use a molex to PEG connector, just because it came with the graphics card. Even if the power supply had more than enough connectors.

that is sad , i don't know why gpu manufacturers allow for such user error when clearly the molex cables/connectors are not capable of safely handling the power draw of the pcie 8 pin
