    Default Corsair VX450 powering GPU RX580 8gb

    Hi guys,

My current PSU Antec Truepower Classic 550w has died, I am returning it for warranty in the next few days. I am currently using my 9 years old PSU Corsair VX450 to power my Ryzen PC, I have replaced the RX580 8GB with a 9 years old ATI 5770 until I get my PSU replaced because the PSU doesn't have right pins.

I want to know if my VX450 can power RX580, which requires a 6 pin & an 8 pin. My VX450 only has a 6pin. If I just plug in the 6pin, would it work or would I risk damaging my PC? I won't be playing any games until I get my PSU replaced, so just youtube and web surfing.

    Thanks.

Short answer, is just stick with the HD 5770 until you get a new unit.

Thanks, I just returned the faulty one for warranty, I bought an OEM thermaltake light power 500w, ps-ttp-0500nnnnau-1, which I can refund when they finish the repair. Is this one ok? It only has pcie 8pin, I understand my GPU requires 6pin plus 8pin, but the 6pin is listed as optional, so hope it will be fine for temporarily use.

It's okay to refund that power supply.
