    Default Are all fans 'gradual'

I recall a cooling fan decades ago that had speed modes, and the jump up in speed and back down I found very distracting. I assume all power supply fans these days are now run on a gradual curve?

Depends on what's used to control them.

Also, some cheap fans will have a spot in the RPM where it will resonate. Like when your car's front left wheel vibrates at 80, but not 78 or 82.

They'll actually "jump over" this RPM on the way up.

Fascinating, I learned something new; hadn't thought of the resonating issue.
