    MWE V2 fan noise
    (not mine)

    Sounds bit different?

One visited distributor CS center to replace defective and asked questions.
Distributor: RMA rate is not high, only handful numbers.
He tested the replacement(second batch) on the shopfloor, expecting more failures, but first replacement was fine.

I don't know the *starting* RPM for Prime off the top of my head. The starting VOLTAGE for that model fan is 2.5V, but the fan controller circuit is designed by Seasonic, not Hong Hua. I do know it does not use the better fan driver IC option like the Corsair AX version as I've heard some motor noise at low RPM during development and asked to use the better IC in AX.

Also, I meant to say 135 and not 12 in the part number. Obviously, the MWE uses a 120mm impeller and the Seasonic uses a 135mm impeller, but that's neither here nor there since we're talking about motor noise.

    Bummer...
I wonder why they miss that??

Or do they just not care about fan noise??

I've seen something similar with my 750W Chieftec Power Smart. Also Hong Hua Fan, HA1425M12S-Z, 12V/0,36A...
Has really strong, noticable Motor noise. As in: clearly noticable 5m from the PSU. Fan starts with ~350rpm btw...

Like I said, Gospower's lack of experience with ATX power supplies and/or PSU fans. Remember: These guys are more known for making power bricks and open frame (no fan) and server power supplies (fan full blast).

According to the distributor, something noticable was found in the pre-distribution samples so they fixed the issue, and current ones do not have problem.
Maybe just a-little-more-than-normal failure in the first batch...

I asked CM global directly for specific answer, and my guess was right.

The coil whine(another problem) is because of LLC 'kick mode' for new low load requirements,
and the rattling noise is because of the inappropriate fan speed of zero RPM mode.

They will remove both features since the coming march batch.

I've seen some people on the forums complaining about the same thing in the corsair RM 2019

If the remove the "kick" or "burst" or "hiccup", or whatever you want to call it, mode, they will not meet the 2% load efficiency requirements of the new Intel and CEC standards.

RM will get a new IC to get rid of the noise during boost mode. But it will probably be a rolling change since nobody is actually returning any of the PSUs because of this noise; so it's low priority.

users of the antec HCG 850w also notice a distinctive rattling noise at start
it uses the 120mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing Fan (HA1225H12F-Z) so i guess that explains it
