Default Need help with length of atx and molex cable

    Hello everyone.
I read jonnyguru reviews and forum for years, but now I need some help from PSU experts.
I have linear PSU (~400W) built by my friends specifically for my HTPC. Now, last piece of a projects is atx and other cables needed for this psu.
I've bought wires (should be AWG 16), but I am not sure about length of cables. I see that atx 24 pins is 60-70cm on todays modern PC PSUs.
In my case 60cm is probably a bit short since PSU is external unit, so I think I would need ~80cm.

Probably, the shorter the better, but what is max recommended length? Is 1 meter to much?

    Thanks everyone.

The wire length is entirely up to you. Just keep in mind that you might want to increase wire gauge if you go longer than your typical ATX PSU's cable length (i.e., if you 800mm on the 24-pin, consider 16g for the +12V and ground).

    Thanks Jon.
I have AWG16 wire for all cables (atx 24pin, 8 pin psu, molex etc.), so I should be good regarding that.
