    Default Thermaltake Toughpower GX1

There's a HardOCP review for it, but it wasn't exactly stellar in the review, and hardocp only tests ripple, voltage reg and transient response... Does anyone else have an idea of how good this particular unit is?

It's a budget 80PLUS Gold PSU that's based on a modern LLC resonant converter design with SR and DC-DC. CWT GPS to be precisely.

If the 500W version is like 10 dollars more as a Corsair CX or Cooler Master MWE Bronze V2 it could be an option for a mainstream gaming system. The 600W and 700W versions aren't interesting. Those wattages are meant for high-end PC's and in that case you should be looking at a high-end power supply. I would rate it slightly above MWE Gold. However if you have a Bitfenix Formula Gold 450W available for the same price that would be even better.

Its OKish, but on the lower end of 80plus Gold units.
Does 80plus Gold and stays (well) within spec, at a good price.
    That's all it does.

    As said, Formula is better.
And if you don't change shit, it might be rather noisy (=electronics noise).
    +often comes with meh fans.

I have a Chieftec Power Smart 750W based on this Plattform.
My issues are: the Hong Hua fan (loud Tickering)
Electronics noise at higher loads (with two old Tahitis)...

Yeah around the two CX versions. As Corsair CX 2016 uses two OEM's and two different designs, GreatWall and CWT.

There are actually quite some similarities between the CWT Corsair CX and the CWT GPS as shown in the ToughPower GX1.
