Fan speed is rather unimpressive, especially for such a high end unit, with those custom Heatsinks...
    That is rather disapointing...

Yeah. Not sure why Asus picked that fan. Seasonic and Corsair chose the Hong Hua fan they chose for a reason. And those custom heatsinks really don't seem to help at all. I have one here and it looks like they block more air then they let through. Sure, there's more surface area. But by the time the heatsink is saturated so is the thermistor that controls the fan speed.

That almost near jump to 900 RPM is pretty crazy for that Power Logic fan. It should be able to ramp much smoother than their curve.

It was listed as available in my email when I did the 1200W review. So, probably, just marketing.

Thanks. Looks like Nico made the same observations about his Asus ROG that I did. Those heatsinks are not an improvement... but they look cool.

the review by Nico is the only one of the 850 version that I know of

When I got my sample, there was only the 1200W Version, the 850W

For the secondary side heatsink of the 850W version however Asus relied on the stock heatsink by Seasonic. And noise-wise I don't really think those Asus parts are any better than the normal ugly looking PSU heatsinks..
