Fan speed is rather unimpressive, especially for such a high end unit, with those custom Heatsinks...
That is rather disapointing...
Wonder why only 1200W reviews and no 850W reviews (yet).
Yeah. Not sure why Asus picked that fan. Seasonic and Corsair chose the Hong Hua fan they chose for a reason. And those custom heatsinks really don't seem to help at all. I have one here and it looks like they block more air then they let through. Sure, there's more surface area. But by the time the heatsink is saturated so is the thermistor that controls the fan speed.
That almost near jump to 900 RPM is pretty crazy for that Power Logic fan. It should be able to ramp much smoother than their curve.

For the secondary side heatsink of the 850W version however Asus relied on the stock heatsink by Seasonic. And noise-wise I don't really think those Asus parts are any better than the normal ugly looking PSU heatsinks..![]()
