    The primary is quick and robust enough that it can take the transient load gracefully. An interesting side effect might be long-term resiliency, as there's no tan-delta of the filter caps potentially deteriorating over time due to internal losses + a minor efficiency boost.

    I'm not sure if it's smart to reduce quantity of components just for the sake of having less visile parts. If you can lower cost it for sure makes sense, but otherwise I don't see much use. Cooling doesn't profit from this usually because you will have more heat at one place.
