    Default Ryzen 5 2600, b450 + Vega 64 psu recommendation

Hi, I'm about to build a Ryzen 5 system and am just lacking a a power supply. I am in the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia.

    My system specs are:

    Ryzen 5 2600
    B450 tomahawk
    16 GB ddr4 ram
    120gb crucial ssd
    300gb 2.5 sata hard drive
    120gb 2.5 sata hard drive
    Two old ide hard drives
    Asus strix Vega 64 OC

I will not overclock the system at all.

I can afford but don't like:
    Thermal take litepower 750w
Silverstone es600f (not compatible with Vega 64 in manual)

    Can also buy:
    Gigabyte pb650
    Thermal take 700w smart RGB
    Antec vp700p
    Cougar stx750
    Silverstone 700f
    Aero cool 700w

Leaning towards the Silverstone 700f. All the power supplies are listed on www.Umart.com.au that computer store is the nearest for me. I am looking anything under $85 from that website. Your help is greatly appreciated!

If you can afford a $400 graphics card, you should afford a decent PSU. Otherwise, it's like putting cheap tires on a Corvette.

    What is a Silverstone "700F"?
Which Aerocool 700W? If it's the Integrator, it's shit.
    Cougar STX 750 is shit.
    Thermaltake Smart is shit.

Antec VP700P is not a bad PSU, but it's double forward front end will suck for Vega 64 and the lack of DC to DC will suck for the B450's better sleep states.

By "Gigabyte P650", I assume you mean the "P650B"? It's the best on your list, but it might be noisy (coil whine) under heavy loads.

Ok, the Silverstone models are: ST60F-ES230, et650-b and st70f es230. Last one seems to be a design from 2008? Also a et-550g which is in my price range. Someone previously recommended to get a gold 550w rather than high watt label and bad quality.

You realize "Gold" is just an efficiency level and has little to do with quality, right?

ST60F-ES230 is an old Sirfa double forward topology. Pass. ST70F is 10 years old. Pass. Why are you looking at so many old PSUs? Buying on eBay?

Such a new, high end graphics card and so many shitty, old PSUs. Doesn't make sense. I've been to Australia. I know they don't only sell shit there.

These are all from the computer franchise that is about five mins away from me. This is what they are selling: https://www.umart.com.au/Power-Supply_140C.html Only found out they were old designs about two hours ago. Also just realized that I started to rate Sillver Stone based on a tier list https://linustechtips.com/main/topic...-list-updated/. There is also the Corsair VS series, but I assumed Silverstone was better based on the tier list. Yeah, it's not like Crocodile Dundee... but we do pay a premium for anything that is imported.

Ok. If you want to buy something from Umart because you don't want to ship something in from NSW, the best options are the Corsair TX650M, the RM650x, EVGA G3 650 or the Thermaltake Smart PRO (not just the Smart) 650W.

All and all, their overall selection sucks.

Only about four big re sellers left in QLD, so I guess they work off margin rather than volume. I'll probably go with the Gigabyte P650b, or save a bit for the Thermaltake Smart PRO. Thanks for your help!

I would use the Gigabyte P650B for a PC like that. While the PSU has DC-DC in the secondary it's still a really low-end power supply. I wouldn't recommend that one with a PC like that.

Oops, I'll be on the lookout for those other models recommended.

Cougar GX-S 650W is the cheapest I would recommend that's available on umart.com.au.
