Default Power supply for client builds and replacements

My workplace has an in-house department that services PC's and still builds quite a few workstations from scratch. Looking into stocking a single power supply that we can use for break/fix purposes and for new builds.

Our builds come with an Antec earthwatts green 380 but sometimes we sell a $500 quadro card for CAD and have to upgrade from the 380.

Currently we use the Antec VP450 for replacing bad units in customer PC's (95% of the time there's no GPU). These are rated well but not 80+.

We're looking at stocking a 500-600w model to use for both purposes.

    • Cooler Master Elite V3 500W
    • Cooler Master MasterWatt Lite 500W Full Range
    • Thermaltake Smart SP-500AH2NKW ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply
    • EVGA 500 BR Power Supply
    • Antec VP500 Plus

These are all from a distributor and are normally $5-10 less than Amazon/Newegg. Feel free to recommend something not on this list and I'll see if we can get it from a distributor.

    They're all bad.

Look into Seasonic models, Corsair, FSP ... someone on this forum will pop up with beQuiet so might as well mention it..

Something like Corsair CX450/CX450M, be quiet! Pure Power 10/11 400W, FSP Hexa 85+ 350W are good options for cheap or mainstream machines.

Seasonic S12II-Bronze shouldn't be bought or recommended because high fan speed, high prices compared to the competition and it is group regulated. But the worst part is lack of protection...
And IMO Seasonic should be called out for not replacing it with a DC-DC variant...

Also there are better and worse FSP ones. FSP has some indy (DC-DC) low cost units based on this Plattform:

Be quiet has the System Power 9 and U9 with 400W and up wich is indy as well.
