Default Rosewill LEPTON Gold on sale - Any good?

I see over on Slickdeals that two Rosewill gold rated power supplies are on sale. Googling came up with nothing. Anyone have experience with these?

I think it's Andyson H6/GX, when looking at the pictures on Newegg.

Buying the 500W version for only 30 dollars without rebate seems like a good choice. Without opening and therefore losing your warranty, you should be able to see what's inside.

Yeah.... Andyson PSU, but who knows what the actual performance is. It's been out for a year almost and nobody's reviewed one or even opened one up to take pictures.

But there are reviews from the Andyson. For 30 dollars I would have bought it and see if it really is a Andyson H6/GX.

The transformer part number, PCB markings, heatsink, and component positioning are identical to that of the Andyson GX, using the Newegg photo.
The Andyson H6 uses a different transformer.

    Probably should.

I've become pretty jaded after buying an Aerocool Integrator after the glowing KitGuru review, only to find that there was little better than a concrete block inside the unit after I bought one.

I really should do an "expose review" of that unit sometime soon. Very deceptive way to trick the customer. The review, the photos of the product and even the packaging are all of the original version of the product, but what ships today is completely different.

This review I found is for the 600w GX version. Once translated, it looks to comply with the 80 Plus Gold standard. I know that's not the end-all be-all for a power supply. Nor, do I even know much about power supply quality. With that, do you think it's worth picking up the $30 500w for a build I'm going to give to a friend? Or, wait for a deal on a 500w bronze from EVGA that seems to pop up every month or so? Thanks!

For $30, if you actually get an Andyson GX (and Rosewill is pretty trustworthy for not baiting and switching), then $30 is a steal.

EVGA B500 or even worse you mean? That isn't really a deal. 30 dollars is maybe a decent price for a B500, but nothing more then decent. If it cost more you shouldn't even consider it.

What is the fan bearing type used in GX series?
