Default Riotoro 1200W Builder Edition review @ KitGuru

The Riotoro 1200W Builder Edition has been released for users who aren’t bothered about RGB lighting, distinctive external design or other extras. It packs high power at a fair price – something that was the holy grail a few months ago, when mining with GPUs was still profitable. However, the situation has changed and with GPU mining seemingly in the past now, is this unit worth the £180 asking price?

Does this unit really have 4 Rails or are they bolted together??
Because everything for 4 Rails seems to be there...

Now if only they could get the hold-up time right, they'd finally have a proper high-end unit to offer...
Careful what you wish for... You just might get it.

Could be that Riotoro just opted for smaller caps, to just safe a dollar. Proper hold-up time should be a really easy fix.

Why aren't people using super-capacitors on the output?

5 of those shown (2.7V 10F) have enough energy to supply 1200W for over a 10th of a second (way beyond the normal hold up time) and cost less than $3 (with postage) for 5 on ebay.

    Because they're only rated for 2.7v ?

Why do you suppose I talked about 5? run them in series

    2.7V x 5 = 13.5V

There may be an issue with the maximum current possible.

I've tried this without balancing on a much larger array
